Paws 4 a Cure Canine Cancer Walk

Join us at Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield, Massachusetts on Saturday, July 19th at 9:00 AM for the Paws 4 A Cure Canine Cancer Walk to raise money for the Magic Bullet Fund. The registration table will be open at 8:00 AM at the gazebo on Main Street.
The Magic Bullet Fund provides financial assistance to pay for canine cancer treatments and medicines when the owners cannot. With their financial sponsorship, the canines they serve receive state-of-the-art veterinary cancer support for their conditions. The Fund’s mission is to provide cancer treatment for dogs whose caretakers are unable to provide treatment; dogs who would not have cancer treatment at all without the Magic Bullet Fund's assistance.

The Fund’s secondary mission is to heighten public awareness about canine cancer through our ongoing educational efforts. The Magic Bullet Fund firmly believe that this work will result in measurable improvement in both canine cancer prevention and early canine cancer detection. The Magic Bullet Fund is a program of the Perseus Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports research and public education about cancer in companion animals.

All registration fees and donations are tax deductible.

BARK in the PARK
PLANET DOG FOUNDATION & PORTLAND SEADOGS
TEAM UP FOR
MAINE'S HOMELESS ANIMALS

Portland, ME (June 2008) – The Planet Dog Foundation (PDF) is teaming up with the Portland Sea Dogs again this summer to help strike out homelessness in pets at Bark in the Park, the second annual fundraiser to benefit Maine's animal shelters.  Dogs and their families are invited to Hadlock Field on August 3, 2008 to enjoy an afternoon of baseball while raising valuable funds for Maine's homeless animals.

The gates open at 11:45 and the afternoon gets underway at 12:15pm with a parade for pups of all ages and people around Hadlock Field, led by Slugger, the Seadog's mascot. The first pitch is at 1:00pm, as the SeaDogs take on the Trenton Thunder (a farm team for the New York Yankees).

Bark in the Park ticket-holders sit in the 3rd base bleacher section with all-access to the "birthday section" behind the bleachers.  The section will feature doggies up for adoption from the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, a grassy relief area, wading pool, canine watering station, dog treats and games for pups and their families.  Doggy valets will also be on hand to care for pets while people visit the concessions at Hadlock Field. Visitors without dogs are also invited to visit the doggy area, meet dogs available for adoption, and learn more about Maine's animal shelters and the Planet Dog Foundation.

Tickets are $7.00 for adults, $7.00 for dogs and $4.00 for children under 16 and seniors over 62.  Kids under the age of 2 enter free. Every ticket holder with a tail gets a free Planet Dog Orbee-Tuff® baseball and admission to the pre-game on field parade with Slugger. Tickets will go on sale on July 1st and can be purchased at the Planet Dog Company Store at 211 Marginal Way in Portland.  All dogs must have a ticket and each dog must be accompanied by a ticket holder age 18 or older. Dog tickets are limited and MUST be purchased in advance at the Planet Dog Company Store. All proceeds support Maine's homeless animals.

The mission of the Animal Refuge League (ARL) is to provide temporary care and shelter for stray, abandoned and relinquished animals, and to place as many as possible into responsible and caring homes. The Animal Refuge League also works to create awareness and support for the humane treatment of all animals and to end animal overpopulation through education and the promotion of spaying and neutering. ARL takes in more than 4,000 stray, abandoned or owner surrendered animals. For more information, visit arlgp.org
